Throughout history, kingdoms have risen and fallen. Empires have been built and then destroyed. Israel was the only true theocracy that has ever existed. God alone reigned as sovereign over His people. Yet they longed to be like the other nations and asked for a human king. In this course, listeners discover the consequence of such a request as Saul, David, and then Solomon assume the throne during Israel’s short united monarchy.
