Französischer Meister, Noah’s Ark, 1675
“The fact remains that the goal of the Old Testament was to see both Jews and Gentiles come to a saving knowledge of the Messiah who was to come.  Anything less than this goal was a misunderstanding and an attenuation of the plan of God.”
Walter C. Kaiser Jr. (1933-current)

The study of the Old Testament examines the Scriptures’ metanarrative and people’s ongoing struggle with sin.  God created humanity to have fellowship with Him.  Humans were invited to walk moment by moment with their Creator and enjoy Him forever.  Regrettably, each chapter of the Bible tells the repeating tale of man’s rebellion.  Yet from the opening scene, through the Patriarchs, judges, and the kings, God’s loving fingerprint is evident.  Despite Israel’s rejection, His plan would prevail.  As the prophets foretold, He was sending the Messiah to redeem the remnant and bring about His kingdom reign.
