Carroll Builds National Bible Museum – ITS Release 5/27/09
For the past year or so, Cornerstone University Professor Dr. Scott Carroll has been engaged in creating the largest Bible museum in the United States. Located in Dallas, Texas, and housed in an over 900,000-square foot building, the museum will be arguably the greatest collection of biblical antiquities in the world. In addition to preserving valuable relics from Christendom, the museum will construct exact replicas of various biblical sites and serve as an educational resource and training center for Christians. The National Bible Museum staff is expected to exceed 200 individuals, including up to 15 Ph.D. scholars with expertise in Biblical Studies. Once finished, Dr. Carroll will become the chief executive officer of the museum. Please pray that the Lord would direct the effort and use the Museum to accomplish His will.

Darrell Bock Probes Historical Jesus – ITS Release 3/5/09
Dr. Darrell Bock of Dallas Theological Seminary recently participated in an eight-part series for Day of Discovery Television. The series, which is currently airing across the U.S. and Canada, is titled Jesus: Man, Messiah, or More? Ever since He walked the shores of Galilee, Jesus has been a controversial figure. Dr. Bock is one of a group of scholars trying to clear up the confusion. For more than 10 years, they’ve studied key events in the life of Jesus. The goal of their historical research has been to resolve the great debates surrounding His life. By using accepted methods for verifying historical data, they will present evidence that clarifies the question of who Jesus really was. The Day of Discovery Program can be seen on ion television which airs on Sundays at 7:30 a.m. or online at www.dod.org. Please pray that God would use the series to open hearts and minds to the true identity of Christ.

Dr. Hoehner Goes Home to be with the Lord – ITS Release 2/23/09
Dallas Theological Seminary Professor Harold Hoehner unexpectedly passed away on February 12. Known as a great expositor of God's Word, Dr. Hoehner leaves behind an incredible legacy of teaching, preaching, and writing about the Bible. His funeral service was jam packed with family, friends, colleagues, and students paying tribute to a man used mightily by the Lord. He leaves behind his wife, Gini, four children, and 11 grandchildren. Dr. John Grassmick, the Dean of DTS, fondly recalled Hoehner as "an influential and humble man." Please join the ITS Family in praying for Gini and the Hoehner family as they mourn Dr. Hoehner's passing.

Lewis Celebrates 50 Years with Denver Seminary – ITS Release 2/16/09
Denver Seminary Senior Professor Gordon Lewis recently celebrated his 50 years of association with the school. Dr. Lewis joined Denver’s staff in 1958 having earned his Ph.D. from Syracuse University. Widely respected for his insights into apologetics and evangelism, Dr. Lewis was the President of the Evangelical Theological Society in 1992. Dr. Lewis’ ITS course “Exploring Approaches to Apologetics” is designed to help believers build a solid foundation for defending the faith. He noted that the course should, “help a student fairly assess the different approaches and arrive for him or her self at a more balanced or comprehensive defense of the faith.” Please pray for Dr. Lewis as he continues working for the Lord.

Davis Releases Hawaiian Music CD – ITS Release 1/28/09
Former Grace Theological Seminary President and Professor John J. Davis recently released a Hawaiian Music CD called “Hawaiian Sunset.” Since retiring 6 years ago, Dr. Davis has been recording classical country style gospel music. His latest CD was released on Christmas Eve and included a special performance with Chris Dillon. In addition to recording music, Dr. Davis has been busy writing a weekly column for “Outdoor Scene”, expanding previously published books, and speaking at conferences in the U.S. and abroad. Please pray for Dr. Davis as he continues his work and as he recovers from recent ankle surgery.

Blomberg Busy on Sabbatical – ITS Release 1/09/09
Denver Seminary Professor Craig Blomberg just completed his sabbatical semester. While not teaching classes, Dr. Blomberg was still very busy. In addition to writing and speaking at various venues, Dr. Blomberg also participated in his older daughter’s wedding in England. Likewise he spoke at the prestigious New Testament Studies Conference in Lund, Sweden. Please pray that fruit will come from Dr. Blomberg’s efforts and for his daughter’s new marriage.

Grier Trains, Teaches, and Preaches in Zambia – ITS Release 11/3/08
Grand Rapids Theological Seminary Professor Dr. James Grier just completed a successful mission trip to Lusaka, Zambia. This September, Dr. Grier spent one week with a group of Zambian pastors leading Bible Studies and training them in apologetics. Dr. Grier also spent time teaching at a Family Conference as well as preaching in several churches. Please pray for all those Dr. Grier taught and trained. Please also pray for the people of Zambia as the Lord continues reaching the nations.

Cate Bridges Gap with Muslims – ITS Release 10/20/08
Christar’s Ambassador at large Dr. Patrick Cate and his wife Dr. Maryann Cate have been helping to train and teach those interested in Islam. The Cates are experienced missionaries to the Islamic Community. They remain committed to helping Christians understand the Muslim faith and be properly trained to share the love of Jesus. Please pray for the Cates as they continue working on domestic and international projects and discern the Lord’s leading for the future.

Averbeck Preaches to the Nations – ITS Release 9/20/08
Trinity Evangelical Divinity School Professor Dr. Richard E. Averbeck had a busy summer teaching and preaching the Good News. This July, Dr. Averbeck spent time instructing believers in Burkina Faso, West Africa before doing similar ministry in eastern Germany. Dr. Averbeck remains a respected Biblical scholar worldwide contributing greatly to Old Testament Studies. Please pray that the Lord would reap fruit from these summer efforts as well as for Dr. Averbeck’s teaching schedule in Deerfield, Illinois this fall.

Kaiser New Book Release – ITS Release 9/15/08
Gordon Conwell’s Former President and Professor Dr. Walter C. Kaiser Jr. released his latest book in April. The Promise-Plan of God is one of over forty books Dr. Kaiser has written. Published by Zondervan, the book builds on Dr. Kaiser’s central premise that there is unity throughout the Biblical canon. Dr. Kaiser maintains that God’s character, plan, and promise remain consistent throughout the Bible making one’s understanding of New and Old Testaments essential. In July he lectured in Cambridge, U.K. on the “Unity of the Bible”. Please pray that the Lord would use the book to enlighten His people and for Dr. Kaiser’s upcoming project, a manuscript he has submitted to Baker Publishers on 20 ethical issues of our day.

Bock Lectures in Far East – ITS Release 9/1/08
Dallas Theological Seminary Professor Dr. Darrell L. Bock ventured to the Far East this summer teaching at Bible Conferences in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Myanmar. Bock partnered with Dr. Ronald Allen for part of his teaching which included instruction on The Book of Acts. Dr. Bock continues to be one of the most respected Bible scholars around the world for his devotion to the gospel and insights into current issues. God has been doing mighty deeds across the globe. Please pray that the Lord would bring forth fruit from Drs. Bock and Allen’s efforts as well as for Dr. Bock’s writing projects and teaching in Dallas this fall.
